DTS created an innovative combination sales program to get the e-Edition newspaper into the hands of college students.
Students who enroll (or re-enroll) in school via a semester or activity fee can receive a steeply discounted three- to six-month e-Edition subscription whose cost is included in the student activity fee.
The program is “opt-in,” meaning students have to indicate they want to receive the e-Edition subscription, and it satisfies Audit Bureau of Circulations guidelines.
The program elements include:
-- Prominent flier announcing the “Newspaper e-Edition Program” is inserted into student registration packets.
-- Students “opt in” to get the newspaper e-Edition, with its cost included in their registration (or activity) fee, buy paying that fee.
-- Once students enroll, they receive periodic messages (via e-mail, “Sly-dial” cell phone messages, or cell phone text messages) that promote major advertiser offers. These offers are value-added incentives to motivate students to keep subscribing to the e-Edition.
-- The participating college or university earns a commission for every new e-Edition subscription order that originates from the program and that remains active for at least 28 days. The program can be implemented again for subsequent student enrollment periods.
DTS works with the college administration, student government, and partner newspapers to administer, audit, and track the program
